Lily of Valley

If I remember my plans correctly, this is Lily of the Valley.  I am amazed at how some people can walk by such interesting sites and never look from a different perspective.  Having a camera in hand always helps with that problem.

Perspective

Perspective changes the way we look at things.  The image was actually shot this way with me under the flower looking out to the sky.  I know have a new Nikon D60 and look forward to some more close-ups with even finer detail.

Eye View

I love taking close ups.  This was a great one of one of my family members.  Thinking about it know, I might have placed her eye a little differently.  

Maple Leaf at Green Timbers

It was amazing to see the colours at Green Timbers Park in Surrey last year.  This photo was taken late fall when most of the leaves had fallen but not decayed yet.

Lilac, Courtenay, BC

This Lilac image was taken May 24, 2008 in Courtenay.  My mother-in-law wanted some images to share so here is one.

This image was taken in Courtenay, BC with my new Nikon D60.  I am loving the quality of the images.

This image was taken with my Olympus camera for the whole 2 days I owned it.  I love the depth of colour in the image.

Both of our girls love playing with worms and were most excited to see this one playing in our garden.

Stream behind Surrey Conference Centre

The stream behind the Surrey School District Conference Centre has beautiful scenes.

This photo was taken while students in Surrey were raising Salmon in the Classroom.  The Coho were likely about 350 ATU's

Pews at Coastal Victory

Coastal Victory Church was declared a Vancouver Heritage Building and has these beautiful pews.  I love the angles highlighted by the sunlight.

Crocus in Spring

We have an annual display of beautiful crocus in our front yard.

Thistle, 108 Mile House, BC

Again at 108 mile house.  It was interesting that basically the same plan in California is finishing its flowering cycle while in BC two weeks later, the colours are just emerging rather than preparing to distribute seeds.

Farm Fence, 108 Mile House, BC

While on a family trip to Prince George last summer, we stopped at 108 mile house.  I love the ingenuity of farmers and the beauty of our interior.

Cavern at China Cove, Point Lobos State Park, CA

This shot was a lot of fun.  I had to wade into the water to access this cavern.  It is amazing to look at things from a different perspective.  Even looking on Flickr and Panoramio, there are several shots into the cavern but none looking out from.

Limpet Mollusk Monteray, CA

I grew up loving to play with these mollusks at the beach.  They are essentially slugs with a shell.  They eat the algae on the shoreline rocks.

Shooting with Macro continues to amaze me.  When I show my girls these images they are in awe, but they don't always remember to stop and look at them before I take a picture.....

Following the theme of viewing water in Macro view, this image shows the morning dew on a daisy.

What we don't normally see - water

It is amazing to see things through a Macro view. I would not normally have seen the water droplets quite like this.

Found Flowers....

I am always excited when flowers choose to grow in unexpected places.  You try and plant your bulbs and seeds in the garden beds but they sometimes have a mind of their own.  This one is quite a way away from its intended location.

It is amazing the photographs you can make using macro.  Look at the beads of water in the flowerettes.

Coho Fry being released at Bear Creek Park - Surrey BC

Surrey has been running a Salmon in the classroom program for more than 20 years.  We have more than 60 classrooms that raise salmon from the eyed egg stag to fry.  Somewhere between March and May the fry are released into local salmon bearing streams.

Instead of just dumping them from the transfer bucket into the stream, they are released carefully by cups.

This image was taken May 2006.  Several of the guys at our REAL Men's advance went for an afternoon hike and had to cross this beautiful stream.
